DIZZY &
BALANCE ASSESSMENTS
Dizziness is the #1 complaint of persons age 70 and older. Dizziness is the third most frequent complaint to the doctor after headache and lower back pain. There are many potential causes of dizziness and balance concerns, but vestibular conditions of the inner are the most common. Vertigo is the sensation that you or your surroundings are spinning or moving and is often described as dizziness.
Our audiologists are highly experienced in assessing vestibular function, identifying numerous vestibular conditions, and developing effective treatment plans to manage these debilitating conditions. With advanced training in vestibular assessment and management as well as vestibular rehabilitation, our audiologists will help you get back to feeling your best. A thorough case-history will be discussed, a gentle and non-invasive assessment will be completed, and a treatment plan will be developed to suite your needs.
The most common vestibular disorder is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). The dizziness symptoms are provoked by a change in head position such as rolling over or getting in or out of bed. Anne Marie Sinasac-Roy, Doctor of Audiology, and Brent Robinson, Audiologist, have over a 95% success rate for the treatment of BPPV. The treatment is gentle and involves moving your head into very specific positions. You will require someone to drive you home from the appointment.
