Less Slippery Slope

Individuals with a high-frequency hearing loss generally have hearing test results that resemble a ski slope. This type of hearing loss, the most common configuration seen by audiologists, is quite prevalent among those who have age-related hearing loss as well as those with a noise-induced hearing loss. Fortunately, it is also very responsive to treatment with an “open-fit” hearing aid. This type of hearing aid has become popular among patients for its comfort and non-occlusive design. Unlike in-the-ear and in-the-canal hearing instruments, open-fit hearing instruments do not require the use of an ear mold. Instead, sound coming from the amplifier that sits behind the ear is delivered through a thin tube to the ear opening.

Hearing loss can have a huge impact on your life. It can affect your work, your relationships, and your emotional well-being. Hearing aids can help. It’s important to understand that your hearing aid cannot restore hearing to what it once was. However, with regular use, you will become more aware of sounds and where they are coming from. To schedule a consultation, please call us. Our goal is to help people of all ages hear better and improve their quality of life. We offer a wide variety of hearing aids in many colours, shapes, and sizes.

P.S. While open-fit hearing instruments are similar to traditional behind-the-ear types, they are much smaller.
